Another re-clock, LC520, 25mhz to 33mhz ------> LC550 or AKA CC II

ok the LC520 was intensionally slowed down.
The LC550 just has these parts missing.

LC520 is 25mhz
LC550 is 33mhz  ( big difference )

All you have to do is remove these parts from your LC520 to re-clock it to 33mhz.

Remove SMT:
R67
R75
R79

This is something that i have been waiting to work on for the last 2 years.
Now that I was finally able to make some time to test… this is what i have…

I ran all the bench marks and the LC520 board now runs at identical speeds of the LC550
even if the cpu is 25mhz chip, doesn't matter.  it will run at 33mhz and not even get hot.

Enjoy!

also maybe we can update this:

Mac LC 520 (cannot be clock chipped)    <------- Not true, thanks to uniserver

Nice work, Uni.

Shoot me a message personally tomorrow and I'll edit up the old clock chipping page.

Re: Another re-clock, LC520, 25mhz to 33mhz ------> LC550 or AKA CC II

Cool!  Should the CPU be upgraded too so it matches, or is this overclocking the CPU too?  Have you tried out floppy and serial compatibility to make sure those are all fine too?  Seems like they should be, but who knows.
I've been thinking about picking up one of the 520/550/575 big AIO machines lately, and this is interesting there.

i typed up a post to add to this but its all gone because the forum logged me out, then i went to post, it said i was not logged in and then killed my post.

anyways.

i am 100% sure there are no adverse side effects to re-clocking the LC520 to 33mhz.

Re: Another re-clock, LC520, 25mhz to 33mhz ------> LC550 or AKA CC II

i typed up a really great post…  Explaining the in's and outs of the LC-III, LC-III+,  LC 475,  LC 575's,    Even some in there about the IIsi, Quadra 700,  Quadra 800, C/Quadra 610,  AND EVEN  a little in there about the PPC601.

And specifically felt like i had fully answered BBraun's Question.   but its gone… and i am tired,, and don't care enough to re-type it all… Plus i gotta get my ass busy i have SO much work to do.

You should use TenFourFox 38 beta. I hear it's awesome. The maintainer's a jerk, tho.
