Ram for Macintosh 128k

I happen to have a bunch forsale… However I want to talk about the different places one can get it.

And what exactaly you need… and what could be a working alternative,  eg. (512k ram will work in a 128k)

As the years go on i am sure this older stuff is going to be harder to get.

So lets start out with the ram that is already in a 128k,  Probably some chips have already gone bad.

Macintosh-motherboard.jpg

Mcdermd, deserves a good mention.  The first 128k board I ever had, Came from him.
It was an upgraded 128k, I believe it had sockets installed as well.  He removed all the sockets
and installed Stock 4164 Ram Chips form Jameco. It turned out fantastic.

4164 - is the ram chips for not only the Macintosh 128k, but for many other (64K-128K) Vintage Computers!
( pretty common chip )

Jameco still Sells them:
http://www.jameco.com/1/1/1851-4164-150 … emory.html

Here are some other part numbers for these chips:

D4164C-2
NEC D4164C-15

HYB4164P2BD
Hitachi

KM4164B-15
Samsung

M3764A-15
OKI

M5K4164AP-15
Mitsubishi

MB8264-15
Fairchild

MCM4164BP15
Motorola

MCM6665BP20
Motorola

MK4564N-20
Mostek

MT4264-25
Micron

TMS4164-15NL
TI TMS4164-20NL

and if you cant find any of that…

you can get these:  (IC, 41256-120, DRAM, 256k x 1, 120ns, DIP-16)

Jameco still Sells them:
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores … 1_41398_-1

These are Higher Density Ram chips for the 512k.. however… they will still work in your 128k Mac
will just use 128k and ignore the rest.  With a Small circuit you could enable your 128k to use all of 512K.

anyways this ram number is:
41256

That is all i have for now smile

Re: Ram for Macintosh 128k

Neat! I didn't even think they made RAM in such low capacities anymore. I'm guessing this would also work for people who want to restore their 128k's that have been upgraded to 512k's?

Re: Ram for Macintosh 128k

Jameco tends to backstock discontinued parts. I bought high voltage shift registers from jameco awhile back which I know have been discontinued since the late 90s.

So, take a peek at the datecodes.
