QuickTake150 Disassembly
I got a couple quicktake 150's as part of a larger lot of things, and decided to take one apart, just to check on the capacitor situation.
Turns out, they've got quite a few of the PB100/Sega GameGear style electrolytic capacitors. It's also a bit of a hassle to take the things apart.
There are two main logic boards, with a couple peripheral ones attached. There's one for the LCD display, and another one for the flash. The flash has a ginormous capacitor on it, and the LCD PCB has a small battery on it that is undoubtedly dead. Presumably that's a little rechargeable battery that tells you when the main battery is dead.
Anyway, here's some quicktake 150 porn. The pictures can be kind of large, so thumbnails inline, and are linked to originals.
This is the top of the top circuit board, as viewed when the top of the case has been removed. Those little beige things are plastic containing a sideways tin can electrolytic capacitor.
This is the back of the same board. Moar caps.
This is the bottom of the bottom board, as viewed when the quicktake is completely removed from the case and flipped over from the previous views.

Like the P0werBook100?
That triple row of unimplemented pads in the lower right of the first pic looks like it could have been the FDD connector in their Mavica.

Re: QuickTake150 Disassembly
Assuming I'm reading these correctly, here's the inventory if anyone else is interested:
4x 47uF 6V
4x 47uF 16V
1x 47uF 10V
1x 10uF 6V
1x 10uF 16V
1x 4.7uF 10V
1x 1uF 50V
Not including the ginormous capacitor for the flash, or the tiny little battery on the LCD board.

Re: QuickTake150 Disassembly
Innovative, gotta love it, I'll have to snag one one day for the collection. A take apart would be fun.

Re: QuickTake150 Disassembly
Well, I recapped the thing, although the serial port isn't working. I didn't test the serial port before taking the thing apart, so I don't know if I broke it, or it was broken before. In any case, the above capacitor list seems to be correct.
One thing to watch out for, all the peripheral PCBs fit together with little connectors, and after disassembling the whole thing and putting it back together the connectors can be loose and not make consistent contact. So if, after reassembly, the thing acts strange and inconsistent, check to make sure all the PCBs are seated correctly.
