Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
As it has been pointed out in another thread, our current placeholder tagline "Computing like it's 1984. Since 2014." doesn't go far enough to establish that we're a Vintage Mac community.
So, I figured we'd replace it.
If anyone would like to throw some ideas into the pool for consideration, you're more than welcome to do so here.
In addition, if anyone has any ideas as to how we can improve on the site logo, I'd love to hear them as well. Perhaps a mock-up if you're feeling creative.
Cheers,
~ iMic

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
I don't know about the tagline but I was thinking of the logo with the apple garamond font and rainbow in it some how. I don't know if it fits the color scheme of the site though, the purple is nice because the theme goes with it.
I have the PSD if you want it for transparency, sizing, etc.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
ok , i would like to throw in a suggestion for a Site Slogan… " If we can't help you fix your Vintage Mac, Then nobody can! " its cocky but true… ITs our EDGE, All the guys running the place and the starting members are top notch… My self included. i need to email techknight. --- Or " Post a Question, Because we really do know the answer. " -- Maybe one more that will make it a little less technically heavy. " Ask Questions, We'll Answer, Because we Care! "
Witch again is all true!

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
"From 128ks to Power Macs, your source for vintage Mac Answers"
"Apple dropped support, We didn't"
"All the Vintage Mac help you need in 1 site"
I also vote for changing the logo, but then the background would also need to be changed.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
There's been some excellent ideas here, that's for sure. We're currently testing out the new logo, so you may see that tagline change a little over the next few days.
In addition, we've re-added the description field. This is the part that's visible to Google and the various other search engines. At the moment we're using a slight variation of TheMacGuy's idea.
From 68k to PowerPC, your source for Vintage Mac answers.
We'll continue updating the logo, tagline and description it until it all looks and feels exactly how we want it to.
Cheers,
~ iMic.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
It looks awesome! (but then again I'm a bit biased).
I would think about maybe moving the text to the top of the logo versus the bottom because of the way it would be read. Currently it would be:
ThinkClassic Apple dropped support, We didn't
Vs
Apple dropped support, We didn't ThinkClassic

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
It actually doesn't look too bad with the logo text and tagline swapped. I've gone ahead and made the switch.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
I'd like to suggest using one or two of Jonathan Hoeffler's fonts from the late Eighties a/o early Nineties. I knew him when he was just a kid working part time at MPC on 20th St. just a couple of blocks from my Sign Shop. Fellow typeophile and just learning to use Fontographer at the time. Mac kid makes good in the design world, using a couple of his typefaces would be a lot more fitting than just another iteration of Apple Garamond.
Just my $.02 as a denizen of the root cellars of the DTP revlutionary movement in the other big bad rotten Apple.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
You know ... if you went light green instead of light blue on the background accents, it would almost look like greenbar paper

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
Question, did the logo revert for anyone else? I'm back to the old logo and it looks really stretched out.

Re: Logo & Tagline Suggestion Box
You might have to do a force reload to force your browser to pull the new logo down. On Firefox at least you hold down the Shift key while pressing Reload.
