08 Blacbook / 09 Whitebook Penryn MB Swap

Hello all,

Seeking some help to find some info that was posted months ago by LCGuy.  He had taken a mid 2009 MacBook and used its innards to swap out an early 2008 black MacBook.  2008's are supported up to 10.6 Lion or 10.7 Mountain Lion if I recall, and I need to run at least 10.10 Yosemite.  2009's support to 10.11 El Cap, so this seems like a great opportunity to have a useable machine in a vintage case.

I am now attempting to do the same, however I can no longer find the post that detailed all of the steps needed.  I emailed LCGuy directly, and received a response with a link, however the link did not work and subsequent emails have not been answered (not that I want to keep pestering).  If any of you can point me in the right direction, I would sincerely appreciate it.

He did mention however that there could be issues related to the website switching to https instead of http that cause the data not to migrate?  I did comment on the very same post I am looking for but when I search my posts, it shows a number but expanding the search to include all of the topics, it says there are none to show.

Fixed. Some forum permissions didn't automatically transfer when the "Early Intel" section was added. (The thread was only visible to moderators.)
