How can I create a 400k boot disk? Seems easy but...

Hi

I'm trying to create a System 1/2 boot disk for my Mac 512 but I'm getting crazy with this. I've downloaded the images from a few sites, tried different ways but no success.

First try: files with .sit extension. I transfer it to my Mac Plus (System 7.1) and try to expand with Stuffit 1.5.1 (no success), with Stuffit 3.5 (no success), with Stuffit 4 (no success). Changed filetype to SIT!, SITx, SITD, etc, no success, Stuffit always says that the file is damaged (and I've tried with a lot of files). If I try in Mojave, Stuffit seems to expand the file to another .sit file with same lenght, and if I try to expand that second file usually appears a .img or .image file, but that only goes to my second scenery.

Second try: files with .img extension. No matters if I've downloaded the file from different sites or if I've got from a .sit in Mojave and transferred to the Plus (as described in the first try), when I try to open with Disk Copy 4.2 (in the Mac Plus/System 7.1), the software always shows error (unexpected end-of-file). Seems that it try to read a 800Kb image, but these are 400Kb image. Also tried with different filetype/creator, should be dImg/dCpy as described in other websites, but anyway it does not works.

So, how you create your boot disks (System 1/2)? I've read some issues with System 7 and 400Kb disk but all the sites also shows that with DiscCopy 4.2 this should work. May be a wrong Filetype/Creator?

Well, problem solved, after a week trying all kind of things, I've downloaded the files from a new site, uncompress it with Unarchiver in Mojave (twice, don't know why), passed the files to the Plus with dImg/dCpy signature and save to disk with DC42, easy as it should be. I have, at least, nine differents sets of System 2 download from different websites and all fails excepts the last ones sad Don't know if I can publish external links but if anybody needs it just send me a PM.

An old Mac 512 is happy again! I've been very lucky with it, I saw it in eBay, the pictures was blurred but the price was fine, the description said that it was in good condition (as usual, and normally a lie) but I made a bid and win it. The surprise was that it's in excellent condition, no external marks, no rust in battery, I've disassembled it and the board is just like new, capacitors in very good state, the signatures are perfect, keyboard and mouse also in very good state (and in Spanish language, very rare!), runs fine...I know that it's just a computer but I feel specially happy to have this in my collection.
