Introducing Recent Topics (and a Message to the Community)

This has been a frequently requested feature here, and an incredibly long overdue addition. I'm pleased to introduce an improved Recent Topics view in our most recent forum update.

The forums now have a new Recent menu that allows users to view active topics updated within the last 24 hours (Today), 7 days or 30 days. Simply mouse over the Recent link to reveal links for each recent post timeframe and select the one you prefer. You can also bookmark the links for quick access should you choose to.

Hopefully this makes browsing the forums easier for some.

I'd also like to take a moment to address a question about whether ThinkClassic is dead or inactive. The forums are still actively moderated and maintained, however inbound traffic has been much slower in recent times, and I have considered ways to reposition the website and community to appeal to a wider audience in the few free moments I have.

I'd love to continue building ThinkClassic into something unique from the other vintage electronics communities out there, with a focus on cultivating interesting projects and better connecting enthusiasts of old computers with others that share the same interest.

We have some ideas of our own, but feedback is always welcome, and we'd certainly welcome any help from website designers and developers, forum staff, server and network services providers, experts in vintage computer networking and of course you, the members of ThinkClassic and the vintage computer scene in general, who continue to keep the dream alive and make this all worthwhile.

Another possible fix currently being trialled:

One thing I noticed with this forum is when I visit, I like to read all the new posts. But sometimes I walk away and go idle, the forum automatically "reads them all" for me. I HATE that.
any way ti fix this??

The user timeout has been increased from 1800 seconds (30 min) to 3600 seconds (60 min). This should hopefully remove the issue for most, but this timeout interval may need to be adjusted depending on how the forums are performing. Anyone that experiences an issue related to timeouts or new posts, please don't hesitate to let me know over in the Reporting Site Issues thread.

My bookmark has been updated to one week and now enough posts show up that it no longer looks like a wasteland. Methinks responses will multiply significantly and wait times will decrease dramatically when support questions are asked. I'd never have seen Cosmo's recent additions were it not for this change. Props, mate!
