Mac OSX public beta

My son just gave me a copy of the Mac OSX public beta. Is this useful at all? He told me that it expired in 2001 and will not even install on old machines. I have an original iBook in storage, should I take it out and try it or am I wasting my time?

Thanks!

Re: Mac OSX public beta

Just change the date to sometime in mid - late 2000 or early 2001 before you install and it should install and run fine. These days it is pretty much useless, even compared to early versions of OS X, but like running Rhapsody its interesting to see where the OS you're using today came from.
