Macintosh 512k german system

Hi there,

I'm the proud owner of a fatmac - it's a german version with a german keyboard. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any macintosh system disc image with a german version on the net- very frustrating.
Is there by chance anyone who has a german disc image with macintosh system no larger than 4.x or knows someone who has?
Me and my mac would be very thankful smile

Cheers, Marcel

The 512k can also run 6.0.8. But if you want: System 4

Thanks very much.
But is it just me or do I just see the english versions?! What do I have to do to use my beloved ö,ä, and ü on the fat mac?

Cheers, Marcel

Re: Macintosh 512k german system

Dunno about system 6, but in System 7 you can use ResEdit to change the KCHR resource to map the keys to anything you wish. You could map the German layout to the CapsLock table or vice versa for English/German functionality. My Duo's Capslock table was always mapped to an extended cursor/page navigation/numeric keyboard. There are tables for every permutation of the mapping such as Option and Control.

Have you asked around 68kmla regarding a source for German OS?

Re: Macintosh 512k german system

The Localiser lets you change the keyboard layout on early mac systems. Download it here

I did find System 5 in german somewhere, but system 5 won't work on a 512k...

Edit: maybe this guy has a backup of system 4 in german somewhere??
