Re: Craigslist finds

I think my area is tapped out (pretty sure I've been the cause of some of that).  The few times something shows up it's either optimistically priced or past the point of being worthwhile.

LCIII with 36MB RAM and a 150MB HD for $40
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ … 21553.html

Classic II and a IIci with monitor for $60.  IIci doesn't look too bad (though it would need caps) but the Classic II is all cracked/broken.  Shame too, since it's the "enhanced" model.

Whole big lot of stuff, ranging from a //c to G5s - $1,200.  Same ad has been up for several months now.

Re: Craigslist finds

The 2012 towers are pretty good still.  They seem like decent 10.9 machines.  IIRC, they can't run Snow, which is a bit of a bummer.

Re: Craigslist finds

There's a Mac LC II with a hilarious description right now in Cleveland.

Anyone want it? http://cleveland.craigslist.org/sys/5635933221.html

I'd go for it but that monitor...not sure if I have the space, especially since I just had a church friend dump an eMac on me...

You are wrong! All cMP's can run Snow Leopard just fine according to EveryMac, which makes sense since the 2012 model is basically the 2010 model (released when SL was current) with slightly faster CPUs.

That being said, I'd probably run Mavericks on it for as long as I can. It's just be good to have that extra support if I need it (like, if for some reason, Apple decides to change their policies and support ONLY the current release, leaving everything except Sierra out in the cold).

However, it seems as though there's been an effort to hack Sierra onto the 2008 Mac Pro and 2009 MacBook Pros. I don't want to rely on that, though, as Apple, in their infinite wisdom, would probably break it sooner or later, leaving me stuck.

Better to get an officially supported machine, I think.

Besides, I can still keep the 2008 around as a spare, and perhaps dedicate it toward audio recording (instead of using it for both my primary desktop AND recording machine).

Re: Craigslist finds

Huh, that's good to know that they can run Snow.  If you end up getting it, and actually getting snow booting, I'd be interested to hear.
