The original System 1 machines used custom Rockwell 4-bit 11660 procs. Six of them.

I think System 80s used 6502.

I picked a free dual 1.42 GHz FW800 PM with all original parts. Decent shape. Runs well.

My buddy also landed this on me. A brand new Apple II mouse, never used. Packing is still sealed. It even has the original sales receipt dated March 22, 1984. $175 for a mouse, lol.

No controller card on the packing list. The metal wrapped up in plastic on the left is a box to house the DB9

Nice find Dylan. The mouse interface card was indeed seperate product. I don't think i've never seen the box for it however?

I have the same mouse product, it wasn't sealed but complete otherwise.

I'm guessing the metal box for the DB-9 would be used on the ][ and ][ Plus. That said, I don't really see much of a reason to use a mouse on a ][ or ][ Plus. After all, they aren't MouseText capable. On my //e, I just use a beige M0100 that I bought at RE-PC out of their serial mice bin.

Out of curiosity, where do you find such things? Do you have to make trips up to Portland to find them? I've occasionally looked around for giggles to see what's available and it's pretty rare to find anything within about 2hrs of here, and when it is, it's usually something pretty uninteresting to me. But I do see stuff pop up in Portland and Seattle areas somewhat regularly. Just curious if there's some secret local source or if you do a fair bit of travel for them.

Well I search Portland and Seattle craigslist, but McD always finds the stuff before I do. He found the Black Tiger arcade for me on it last year. I got it but he found it and I check a lot. It was in Olympia(that particular one).

A-hahaha. Fuck no. LCDs are no "upgrade". They look like ass. All of the graphics are made to be blurred by electron guns lighting up phosphors. These are old, slow 15KHz, RGB, CGA-res monitors. You can find burn-free, compatible tubes in old TVs for free. Swap the tube into your monitor chassis and you're gold.

I find machines by scanning craigslist, running with other local collectors and continuing to network. It's like Macs - how many have you found on craigslist vs how many have you found from another member or a friend-of-a-friend? These two were bought from an arcade owner I've struck up a rapport with over the last few years.

And the mini-cabinet we scratch built for the kiddo's room:

It runs a $50 60-in-1 "Arcade Classics" board. It's for the kids and a scratch build so it's the only way I can justify using one of those boards (they picked the Lego theme). Runs all real arcade kit with coin acceptors, 13" Electrohome G07 CRT, Wico 8-way leaf switch stick, leaf buttons, etc.

Good on you. LCDs on vintage gaming consoles or computers remind me of modern stereos in classic cars. You have the classic interior, classic dashboard, then the new head unit that stands out like a sore thumb. Likewise, on my classic Macs I have all my vintage peripherals, and then I have the LCDs that are great and don't take up much space, but that older software, and especially games just don't look right on.

I wonder if some kind of digital processing could adequately mimic the phosphor blurring effect using a higher-res LCD. Eventually it may be very difficult to find CRTs.

cosidering they have lasted 30 years now and were made for decades after, there is a good amount of CRT's to be found yet.
