Post-Registration Activation Emails - Not Being Received

Hi Everyone,

We recently identified an issue potentially affecting new registrations on ThinkClassic. After completing registration, you should receive an email with your account credentials to login and activate the account. In some cases these emails may not have been received, or were received but were directed to your Spam folder.

The issue has been confirmed with users of Google Gmail. It is possible that users of Hotmail, Live, Outlook and Yahoo Mail may also encounter the same issue, including other mail providers that we have not yet identified.

If you have registered a new account with us but have not received an activation email, please follow these steps.

  • Check your spam folders. You may need to log in to the web interface of your email service to check this. Google Gmail for example may not deliver emails marked as spam to your email client.

  • Reset your password. From the login form, click the "Forgotten your password" link. This will regenerate and send another email containing the login credentials you will need to activate your new account.

  • If you still have not received an activation email, please contact either myself or mcdermd at admin@thinkclassic.org so we can correct this issue for you.

We are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Thanks for your understanding.

Update ( 5th July 2015 7:03 PM ACST )

We have since migrated to a new mail server that should hopefully have resolved this issue. If you continue to experience any issues or have created a new account that you did not receive an activation email for, please contact an administrator in this thread or via email at admin@thinkclassic.org.

Re: Post-Registration Activation Emails - Not Being Received

At the moment we have a few still unconfirmed accounts in the database.

@uniserver - if you know anyone that's attempted to register but hasn't been able to, let them know to send me an email at the address above and I'll get it fixed up.

Re: Post-Registration Activation Emails - Not Being Received

Yeah, I was experiencing that when I signed up yesterday with my Outlook/Live account, some reason the activation email didn't come through.

What I ended up doing was clicking on "Forgot you password?" and I received the newly generated password in my Spam folder, then changed the password to my liking after logging in. wink

Re: Post-Registration Activation Emails - Not Being Received

We've determined the issue is further up the chain with our service provider. There are a couple of options to possibly resolve the issue so we'll continue to look into those. Until then, the information in the first post still stands.

Re: Post-Registration Activation Emails - Not Being Received

I created a test account linked to a new Gmail account, and sure enough the email came through almost instantly and without issue. Looks good to me. Thanks mcdermd. smile

We'll leave the announcement up and continue testing for a while, just in case.
