Re: Spring Clean

Your Q950 needs interleaved RAM. wink

On the other hand, after working on this thing, I need a blood transfusion.

Re: Spring Clean

It's actually a bit fidgety because there's a bug in the MacOS memory manager (and subsequently the ROM's memory manager) with handling sizes that large, so you need to configure a ramdisk before fully populating the SIMMs, and the percentage of ram allocated to the ramdisk will be preserved in pram after installing more ram.  It needs to be pretty sizable too.

Re: Spring Clean

The 700 has 30 pin SIMM slots - are 30 pin SIMMs bigger than 16MB even a thing?

Re: Spring Clean

30 pins = CAS/RAS/Address line limited to 16MB, IIRC.

Since the 040 slots appear to be identical(electrically?) maybe djMEMC or something similar could be adapted to use a "Silicon Disk" type PDS card? Developing one of those would be a fun project.

If bank limited, addressing a PDS Silicon Disk as VM has been done since the IIfx. smile

Using more modern memory could make its capacity HUGEMONGUS! Dunno about connector availability, but using a 610 with its Edge Card/RA Adapter setup (IIRC) would be the obvious testbed  .  .  .

This doesn't sound promising for A/UX ... which is usually what my Q800 is running.

CHC,

Of course your 800 will kick it's butt - but that's not the point, is it. smile

Re: Spring Clean

Does the //c have expansion port on board?
Or the internal power convertor still on it?
