Re: Spring Clean

Sorry, I'm getting over a cold and have totally neglected the //c discussion here.

Max, I can still weigh it up for you and if you want to pass, BMoW has dibs, I guess.

The logic board will not see either internal nor external drives. I have tested the internal floppy in another //c and it works fine. So, it's a controller chip or maybe resistor array or something on the logic board. Eudimorphodon is correct, this is the original "255" ROM version.

The power supply is external and uses a DIN plug. If you're creative, I'm sure it would not take much to put one together on your own.

Re: Spring Clean

It looks like the //c ROM chip can be replaced, so the "255" ROM isn't a huge issue. See http://www.ebay.com/itm/221710345031?_t … EBIDX%3AIT Although it says it requires "two minor solder changes on the motherboard". ???

I looked at the schematics, and it seems to be a standard 27c256 chip, so I'm not sure why any mods would be needed. Given the way it's wired up, I think a 28c256 should also work.

Re: Spring Clean

Sorry for the world-class delay but I finally weighed up the //c . 7.5 lbs without any packaging.

Re: Spring Clean

Do you know what the postage would cost? at 7.5lbs i'm thinking it's poabley going to be far too much (I know sending a package from the UK to the US of that weight would be pretty expensive, not to mention that UK customs would probably hold me to ransom for import vat (They did that when i got my portable's board back from techknight, I don't mind the VAT so much as the mandatory fee royalmail / parcelforce charge to pay the fee for you))

Re: Spring Clean

I think i'll have to pass, when you factor everything in it's getting a bit too expensive

Re: Spring Clean

I don't blame you. Overseas shipping is a killer.

If BMOW doesn't want it, I send it to you, CC. Still up for $15. The tested, working floppy drive is worth more than that.

Anyone interested in a WGS-95 card? Run your 950 on AU/X. Say $50 plus shipping?

Re: Spring Clean

And if nobody wants the LC III for $40, I'll take it to eBay.

Re: Spring Clean

How about a couple of scraptops? They boot, they have some RAM, they have optical drives, they have no hard drives. I don't know much else about them than what's there.

16 " Toshiba Satellite a355-s6925
2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo (T6400)
2 GB PC2-5300 RAM
2qaqm1h.jpg
21e3meo.jpg

14.1" HP Pavilion dv2000 dv2171cl
1.6 GHz Turion 64 X2
1 GB PC2-5300 RAM
1z1v3vk.jpg
2s8ogeq.jpg

$40 for the Toshiba, $25 for the HP?

ADC? Not ADB? I didn't know anyone ever made such a thing.

I gotta research that HP, if it's faster than my 5 year old HP Pavilion dm1 NetBook, I'm definitely interested, more so than in the TSiBook even.

Re: Spring Clean

How old is the HP? Gotta check out the ubuntuzation potential as a Pavilion dm1 replacement, but it sounds good!

Need working PB150 w/memory upgrade module? It's a back-burnered, unhacked to date: ADB/SD/internal Micro-ENsc project in search of a safe haven ATM.
