System 7.1 language

Hi, I've bought a Macintosh Classic and it has System 7.1 in french, is possible to change the languaje or must i reinstall the whole system? If not, can the system be upgraded to a newer version with different language? The hard disk has some software that I prefer to preserve.

Back in the day Apple sold Language Kits that used to allow the Mac OS to use foreign languages, however its easier, and better, to simply use an English OS version. And you don't have to format the hard drive, simply remove any control panels, extensions, Startup Items, etc from the system folder that you wish to preserve, move it to the trash, boot off an English System 7.x System install disk and install away.

Thanks. Finally I've formatted the hd and reinstall System 7.1 in my language, now at least I can use it. Now it's retr0bright time smile

This classic only have mouse so I need to find the keyboard, do you know what model was bundled with the Macintosh Clasic M1420?

Here in Australia at least the Classic was bundled with the Apple Keyboard II:
